<p>On Monday, October 5th, Wizards of the Coast announced the newest Festival In A Box product for <em>Secret Lair</em>. It'll come out in the <em>Secret Lair</em> webstore on October 19th. This Festival In A Box, representative of MagicCon Atlanta 2026, is notable, as it is the first instance in which the public can access <em>Mystery Booster: Commander Edition</em>. But what else does the box contain? Read on!</p>

You'll be able to find this on the <a href="http://secretlair.wizards.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Secret Lair</em> webstore</a> while supplies last... And believe me, they won't last long.</p>
<p>And now, let me open the floor to you, dear readers! Have you ever bought a Festival In A Box product from Wizards of the Coast? Did you like the contents? If you got a <em>Mystery Booster</em> display, how did you make use of it? Sound off in the comments below!</p>

Secret Lair - Festival In A Box Atlanta 2026 Announced

Deck Tech: The Muckslinger Gang

<p style="text-align: right;"><em><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Nephilim Epochal" href="#" target="_blank">Nephilim Epochal</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> | Art by <a href="https://scryfall.com/search?q=a%3A%E2%80%9CSimon+Dominic%E2%80%9D&amp;unique=art" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Simon Dominic</a></em></p>
<p>This past weekend during Gen Con, Wizards of the Coast revealed the contents of <em>Mystery Booster Commander Edition</em>, a new Mystery Booster product only obtainable during MagicCon events (and in Festival in a Box products to come). This reveal showcased a total of 60 new Commander-legal legendary cards, all usable as commanders. Let's look at all of these awesome cards!</p>
<h2><em>Mystery Booster Commander Edition</em> New White Cards</h2>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Ekthi, Contaminator Priest"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Grakk the Pacifist"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Nivea, Beloved Battlemage"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Seluma, Light of Aysen"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Worzel, the Protector"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Yume, Chronicler of Valor"></div></div>
<p>There are (at least!) two important things to note with these new reveals. One is that there is an absolute glut of new planeswalker commanders. This will surely make Superfriends decks very happy. The second thing is that there are so many deep cuts in the lore among these cards that the diehard lore fans (or, as they prefer, "Vorthoses") are already going mad over this release. But in the meantime, let's move on with blue!</p>
<h2>New Blue Cards</h2>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Dyfed, the Guiding Hand"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Flitwing, Lyev Detective"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Grandmother Goby"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Gustha Ebbasdotter"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Sash and Waistcoat, Unmen"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Tolabow, Loch Rascal"></div></div>
<p>There are eight cards in this subset from the release that have the "rulebreaker" mechanic. Tolabow, Loch Rascal was revealed early on, and there was some confusion about how it actually works. So, Wizards of the Coast has provided functional errata to the card to allow one additional color altogether, and the card's Oracle text references color identity rather than color. <a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/update-to-tolabow-loch-rascals-rules-text" target="_blank" rel="noopener">You can read about that errata here!</a></p>
<h2>New Black Cards</h2>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Boss Uramon, Shadow&#039;s Reach"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Istvan, Butcher of Eln"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Kuroki, Thief of Talents"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Miss Highwater"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Olinda the Oblivious"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Sahir, Visitor in Darkness"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Thomil, the Destroyer"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Valko Indorian"></div></div>
<p>There was for a long time an issue with getting Brandon Sanderson's <em>Magic</em> novel, <em>Children of the Nameless</em>, out to readers. I am unsure if that still stands, but <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Miss Highwater" href="#" target="_blank">Miss Highwater</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is a character from that novel, which bodes well for the book itself, because it's an excellent read.</p>
<h2>New Red Cards</h2>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Balefang the Unslayable"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Chira, All In"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Dragon&#039;s Smile"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Jabs, Mistress of Mockery"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Joven and Chandler"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Matoc, Lavamancer"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="The Unluckiest Planeswalker"></div></div>
<p>Yes, they finally printed <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="The Unluckiest Planeswalker" href="#" target="_blank">The Unluckiest Planeswalker</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>! For all those who enjoy <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor" href="#" target="_blank">Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and her antics, this is the guy who's on all those Curse cards!</p>
<h2>New Green Cards</h2>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Autumn Willow, Harmony"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Blor the Impervious"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Glava, Five-Advents Mage"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Greensleeves"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Maular, the Next Evolution"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Meatsqueak, Hoard Lord"></div></div>
<p>I'm not entirely certain why white, blue, and green got so many fewer cards than red or black when it comes to new monocolor cards, but as a Rakdos fan, I'm not complaining. On to the rest of 'em!</p>
<h2>New Multicolor Cards</h2>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Arzakon"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Ashaya&#039;s Enduring Bond"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Chief Magistrate of Mercadia"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Davvol, Evincar of Rath"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Elda, Conjurer of Spectacle"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Feroz, Ulgrotha&#039;s Warden"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Grizzlegom, Hurloon Hero"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Homer, the Hermit"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Itazura, Lingering Wick"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Jandor, Fortuned Traveler"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Lyna, Veil of Vengeance"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="The Madcap Jester"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Massimo, the Magician"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="The Muckslinger Gang"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Nephilim Epochal"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Olag and Miau, New Friends"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Rikala, Homarid King"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Selenia, the Cursed Heart"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Sifa Grent"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Tresserhorn&#039;s Lord, Returned"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Tsagan, Raider Warlord"></div></div>
<p>Regarding two cards in above, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sifa Grent" href="#" target="_blank">Sifa Grent</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> was, like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Miss Highwater" href="#" target="_blank">Miss Highwater</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, a card that was in some degree of dispute. IDW Comics had the rights to Sifa, just like they had the rights to <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Dack Fayden" href="#" target="_blank">Dack Fayden</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. Things must have changed!</p>
<p>The other card in question, Tsagan, Raider Warlord, is from the Alchemy format on <em>Magic: The Gathering Arena</em>! There is hope, people!</p>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Uugguu, the Omniplasm"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Venser, Visionary Traveler"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="The Weaver King"></div></div>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Whtz, the Bibliophile"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Zagorka, Mother of Sanctum"></div></div>
<p>And, there is one more card in this subset: a colorless artifact creature.</p>
<h2>New Colorless Card</h2>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="The Everforger"></div></div>
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
<p>And now, let's hear from you, dear readers! What do you think about these new cards, coming one to every pack of <em>Mystery Booster Commander Edition</em>? Are you excited to use any of them in your next Commander builds? Sound off in the comments below!</p>

Mystery Booster Commander Edition Adds 60 Legal Commanders

Tolabow, Loch Rascal Deck Tech

<p style="text-align: right;"><em>Yet-unnamed art by <a href="https://scryfall.com/search?q=%28game%3Apaper%29+artist%3A%22raluca+marinescu%22+prefer%3Abest&amp;unique=cards&amp;as=grid&amp;order=name" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Raluca Marinescu</a></em></p>
<p>On Friday, July 17th, the good folks of Wizards of the Coast revealed a ton of new information at MagicCon Amsterdam. This specific article will delve into the future of in-universe <em>Magic</em> through the end of 2027. (For more information on <em>Reality Fracture</em>, you can visit <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/reality-fracture-reveals-from-magiccon-amsterdam-panel/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the other article</a> we released on MagicCon Amsterdam alongside this one!)</p>
<p>So, it's important to keep in mind that with very new <em>Magic</em> information, such as what's to follow in this article, there are no cards to showcase for these sets, at least not yet. We do, however, have a bunch of cool new images for card art and even a few concept art pieces for the sets. So with that, let's dive in... <em>literally</em>!</p>
<h2><em>Nauctis: The Sunken Realm</em></h2>
<p><a href="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Nauctis-logo.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-188615" src="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Nauctis-logo.jpg" alt="Nauctis: The Sunken Realm logo. Image credit: Wizards of the Coast" width="798" height="203" srcset="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Nauctis-logo.jpg 798w, https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Nauctis-logo-300x76.jpg 300w, https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Nauctis-logo-768x195.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 798px) 100vw, 798px" /></a></p>
<p>For the first time since a <em>Future Sight</em> cameo in <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Narcomoeba|FUT|54" href="#" target="_blank">Narcomoeba</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and a <em>Planechase</em> Plane card (Iquatana ultimately unrelated), we are headed under the sea! And while we cannot promise we won't get any hot crustacean bands... yet... <em>Nauctis: The Sunken Realm</em> is assuredly a fully submerged plane of existence with a completely underwater setting to it. So who knows? We may actually see several references to famous underwater tropes. As this is a completely new setting, there's really no telling what to expect here. However, we have it on good authority that Wizards wanted Nauctis to be high-fantasy, but submerged.</p>
<p>With that, here are a bunch of the concept images we have of <em>Nauctis: The Sunken Realm</em>:</p>

<p><em>Nauctis: The Sunken Realm</em> releases on February 5th.</p>
<h2><em>Mystery Booster Commander Edition</em></h2>
<p>Now, there's something I kind of buried the lede on here. By opting to give in to my urge to make a joke about "literally diving in", I kind of neglected the timeline of things. There is one really big release before any of this <em>Nauctis</em> nonsense, and that's even more chaotic <em>Mystery Booster</em> fun! <em>Mystery Booster Commander Edition</em> is the next installment in the <em>Mystery Booster</em> lineup of products. It features what you'd generally expect from the product line, plus a nonzero number of new cards. You heard that correctly; this product has new cards in it. And, we have two previews to show you from the MagicCon Amsterdam panel!</p>

<p><em>Mystery Booster Commander Edition</em> will debut at GenCon this year, but will roll out in 2027 at the MagicCon events lined up then, as well as in the Festival in a Box products that you can find around that time at the <a href="http://secretlair.wizards.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Secret Lair</a> webstore.</p>
<p>With that, let's resume our travel across the planes of 2027. This next one is massive.</p>

<p>Due to some shenanigans that stem from the overarching storyline of the next arc, Ikoria is slated to invade Kamigawa. The result? Mechs versus kaiju! This is going to be a set for the ages, and in all seriousness, we are <em>stoked</em> for it. Again, we don't have cards to show you, but there is a a bit of concept art and some completed artwork to showcase here, below:</p>
<p><a href="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-188619" src="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-1.jpg" alt="Image credit: Wizards of the Coast" width="960" height="497" srcset="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-1.jpg 960w, https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-1-300x155.jpg 300w, https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-1-768x398.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></a> <a href="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-188620" src="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-2.jpg" alt="Image credit: Wizards of the Coast" width="960" height="499" srcset="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-2.jpg 960w, https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-2-300x156.jpg 300w, https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-2-768x399.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></a> <a href="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-3.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-188621" src="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-3.jpg" alt="Image credit: Wizards of the Coast" width="960" height="499" srcset="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-3.jpg 960w, https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-3-300x156.jpg 300w, https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Kamigawa-TitanBreach-3-768x399.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></a></p>

<p>Finally, the last in-universe <em>Magic</em> set of 2027 is one that fans have been anticipating for a good while now:</p>
<h2><em>Zhalfir</em></h2>
<p><a href="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Zhalfir-logo-scaled.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-188622" src="https://cloudflare.edhrec.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Zhalfir-logo-scaled.png" alt="Zhalfir logo. <p><em>Zhalfir</em> is a storied world from <em>Magic</em>'s long history. Originally, Zhalfir was featured in the <em>Mirage</em> block. During the first Phyrexian Invasion (of 2001's <em>Invasion</em> set), the Planeswalker Teferi <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Teferi&#039;s Protection" href="#" target="_blank">phased</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> Zhalfir out of existence to protect it from the Multiversal threat. He tried to phase it back in, which backfired, partly causing the events of <em>Time Spiral</em>. Eventually, after all manner of plotlines, Zhalfir was swapped into existence with New Phyrexia, fittingly ending that menace and allowing Zhalfir to exist once more.</p>
<p>Now, we have the first set that's set in Zhalfir, the plane, rather than Zhalfir, the Dominarian continent. The team at Wizards of the Coast consulted a lot of cultural sensitivity consultants to get this African-inspired setting just right, and from the concept art we've seen, it looks really great. Observe below!</p>

<p><em>Zhalfir</em> releases on October 1st, 2027.</p>
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
<p>We were stoked to see these sets get revealed at MagicCon Amsterdam's panel! We cannot wait to see what <em>Magic</em> brings with them in 2027.</p>
<p>And now, let's hear from you, dear readers! Are you excited for these settings to come to <em>Magic: The Gathering</em>? Which one looks the coolest to you? Sound off in the comments below!</p>

MagicCon Amsterdam Reveals What 2027 Looks Like for Magic

<h6 style="text-align: right;">Image credit: Wizards of the Coast</h6>
<p>Running from June 20th through June 22nd, MagicCon Las Vegas is just around the corner! While badges are currently on sale, some people understandably can't make it to Nevada for a <em>Magic: The Gathering</em> convention. What's a <em>Magic</em> player to do? Well, tomorrow, you can fret much less about fear of missing out on the convention! MagicCon Las Vegas's <a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/products/festival-in-a-box">Festival In A Box</a> goes on sale on Monday, May 19th at 9 AM Pacific Time (or Noon Eastern Time).</p>
<p>But what does this event's Festival In A Box contain? Read on, and we'll outline it for you.</p>
<h2>Festival In A Box Contents</h2>
<p>The Festival In A Box for MagicCon Las Vegas has a few really cool things going for it. There's a <em>Mystery Booster 2</em> booster box, exclusive promotional cards, and even a super-exclusive <em>Secret Lair</em> drop! Let's dive into the particulars:</p>
<h3><em>Mystery Booster 2</em></h3>
<p>To start, the Festival In A Box package contains <span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">an <em>MB2</em> box</span>. This set is a conglomerate of practically all sets up to a certain point, with some of the wildest cards from each within its bounds. Beyond this, each pack has card slots for "Futureshifted" cards (AKA cards with the special frame from <em>Future Sight</em>), white bordered reprints, and even a playtest card! There's even a slim (yet still nonzero) chance that you could find foil cards that, financially, could make up a large chunk of the cost of the package.</p>
<p>Truly, <em>Mystery Booster 2</em> is a unique Limited experience, to say nothing of how awesome many of the reprints in the set are. If you want to know more about <em>Mystery Booster 2</em>, <a href="https://commandersherald.com/mystery-booster-2-contents-fully-revealed-by-wizards/">Commander's Herald</a> covered this set's breakdown in a big way when it released. You can check that article out!</p>
<h3>MagicCon Las Vegas Exclusive <em>Secret Lair: Slay the Day</em></h3>
<p>The next thing we'll discuss is <em>Slay the Day</em>, the <em>Secret Lair</em> drop exclusive to this Festival In A Box. This drop contains four cards with stunning art illustrated by <a href="https://craigdrakeart.com/"><strong>Craig Drake</strong></a>. The cards in this drop are:</p>
